  Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology  
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at B.R.Nahata College of Pharmacy has a glorious standing of four years and has unmatched infrastructure, working facilities, faculty and placement profile. There have been tremendous career opportunities in Pharmacology right from Research and Development Centers, Research Institution to Academic and Industrial organizations. Ours is the first of its kind department of Pharmacology established in Pharmacy college of Madhya Pradesh. The Department of Pharmacology has innumerable achievements to credits. The Department has standardized numbers of techniques to evaluate Pharmacological activities of drugs or different organ system. The innovative models of instruments have been developed and fabricated based upon Kaizen strategy in the department to study activity of drugs on Central Nervous System. The department is well equipped to undertake advanced courses of Pharmacology and Research of high standard and quality.

The thrust area of Research:
The department is engaged at present in diabetes and its complication, Neuropharmacology and Ethnopharmacology.
The faculty members have published number of research papers in scientific journals repute in India and abroad. One book titled ‘Practical’s in Anatomy and Physiology- I’ has also been published.

The Drug Information Centre and Institutional Animal Ethical Committee (IAEC) are the adjuvant activities successfully running in the Department.

The TIFAC CORE programme in Clinical Research has also started in the Department to provide individuals/students/profession a basic to advanced level understanding the various clinical trial processes to train and develop clinical research professional of imparting quality education and provide innovative approach to both research and teaching.

Teaching module UG/PG Pharmacology

The B.Pharm course is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal (M.P.).The students of B.Pharm are engaged in various Pharmacological Research and Review projects. The Department also provides advance technology to the students for their projects and day to day practicals.

The M.Pharm course is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal (M.P.).The PG department is approved by AICTE.The students of M.Pharm are engaged in various Journal club meeting, Seminars, Pharmacological Research projects. The Labs of the PG Department are well equipped to provide state of art facility to the PG students. The students also publish their research in the various national and international journals as well as present papers in the conferences. The PG department also has a departmental library for the students which contains essential and reference books. the animal house is biggest in state having rats, guniea pig, mice and rabbits. The PG department also provides good facility to the PG students for biochemical estimation in their research work. The students also publish their pharmacological and toxicological research in the various national and international journals as well as present posters in the conferences. The department also provides information regarding right use of drugs, drug-drug interaction, side effects through Drug Information Centre. The department use model technique for teaching Anatomy and physiology and Pharmacology like webinars, animated videos and power point presentations. The department also solve students routine and academic problem through Teacher-Guardian scheme in the college.

Prof. Shrivastava joined BRNCP in 2007 after a long and successful career in veterinary field. He retired from the post of Head, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Agriculture University, Jabalpur, M. P. He has an outstanding teaching experience of thirty five years. He has guided six Ph. D. and ten M. V. Sc. thesis.

 
He has also worked as member of selection assessment committees of UPSC, New Delhi and technical advisor to Natural Remedies, Bangalore. Prof. Shrivastava has around 150 research papers in national and international journals of repute and has written two books in veterinary science.
 
 
Deshmukh Pradeep Trimbakrao

Mr. Deshmukh completed his M. Pharm from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (Karnataka) in 2006 and is associated with BRNCP since Feb 2007. He has been awarded two times merit scholarship from Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
Mr. Deshmukh is acquisition editor of DST funded IJGP journal and also is referee and Reviewer of various National and International Journals.

Research focus
The research in his lab mostly involves using various animal models to study the wound repairs in rats. One of his projects involves study of various phytoconstituents on promotions of various biochemical and biophysical parameter in wound healing in normal as well as diabetic rats. His other areas of research focus are ethnopharmacology and pharmacokinetics.
